The specifics of theatrical installations
Three requirements that distinguish a theatre stage from any other venue—and where contractors without theatre experience most often make mistakes.
Accurate color rendering
Lighting must not distort the colors of the sets or the actors' makeup. We select fixtures with the correct spectrum that accurately convey the image both in person and through the camera lens when filming the performance.
Absolute silence
Fan noise can ruin a dramatic pause in a performance. For academic auditoriums, we select units with convection or ultra-quiet cooling to avoid interfering with natural acoustics.
Smooth dimming
Theatrical fades must be perfect. No jumps or flickering at low settings—we create a smooth fade to zero without any jerking.

Theatrical Lighting: How the Classic Scheme Works
Theater lighting is the most demanding discipline of stage lighting: it's not the show's brightness that matters, but precision. We design theater lighting using a classic approach, implementing it with modern fixtures:
Tracking light (guns):
Camera guns for tracking soloists. Smooth aperture adjustment and filter changes are essential.
External spotlight (front light):
Powerful profile spotlights with curtains ("knives") and iris illuminate the actor without affecting the wings and the architecture of the portal.
Planned spotlights (upper light):
Stage and set lighting. We use zoom LED fixtures to vary the beam angle from a narrow spotlight to a wide wash.
Ramp and shots:
Downlighting and sidelighting for volume and drama. Compact linear fixtures that don't interfere with the set design.
Modernization of theatrical lighting: the transition from halogen to LED
If the stage still operates on incandescent lamps, the theater is losing money and image quality. We are renovating the lighting system:
- Energy efficiency: LED fixtures consume 5-7 times less energy. This reduces the load on the grid—often there's no need to even install new power lines—and lowers electricity bills.
- No heating: Old spotlights heat the stage like stoves—the actors are hot, and the sets are fading. LED fixtures are cold: the comfort of the cast and the safety of the props are important.
- Saving on consumables: No need to constantly purchase lamps and film filters - the color changes with the remote control.
An important technical point: LED fixtures do not operate on old thyristor dimmers. During modernization, we rebuild the power and control system, reusing existing cable runs and soffit risers whenever possible. This significantly reduces the cost of renovation.

Frequently asked questions
Priorities. Concert lighting requires brightness, dynamism, and effects; theater lighting requires precision and delicacy: silent fixtures that don't disrupt dramatic pauses, accurate color rendition of sets and makeup, and smooth, uneven fades at low brightness. The equipment overlaps only partially, so a "concert" setup in a theater performs poorly—and vice versa.
Partially. LED fixtures don't operate on the thyristor dimmers of the tube era—they require direct power lines and DMX control. During the upgrade, we reconfigure the power supply and control, but reuse the existing cable runs, soffit risers, and trusses—this significantly reduces the renovation budget compared to building from scratch.
For academic halls and drama stages, we select units with convection or ultra-quiet cooling—they're inaudible even from the front rows during a performance's pause. This is one of the key criteria when selecting theater equipment, and it's the most common mistake made by contractors without theater experience, who install "concert" units with noisy fans.
Yes, we work with public institutions under Federal Laws 44-FZ and 223-FZ: we assist in drafting technical specifications and specifications, execute contracts within the agreed-upon deadlines, and provide a full package of closing documents. We plan installations to suit the repertoire—work is carried out during times when there are no performances or rehearsals.
